Volunteers Needed for Law Day

The Law Day Committee cordially invites all AABA members to participate in our 2018 Celebration of Law Day.

The purpose of Law Day is to educate and inspire students all over Anne Arundel County about the important role our courts have in shaping American history.

On Law Day, attorney volunteers across the country participate in outreach programs designed to educate and inspire the public about important areas of law that lift up the quality of life for all Americans. Law Day is officially May 1, but this year the AABA will hold its Law Day programs in local public high schools on May 30. This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Law Day!

Our Law Day Committee is seeking volunteers to speak in schools about this year's Law Day theme, Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom. Speakers will engage students in a discussion about how the separation of powers preserves our liberties and rights and how our governmental system is working for ourselves and our posterity.

The preparation for presenters should be minimal. The Law Day Committee has a PowerPoint presentation that speakers can use if they wish. Also, the ABA's Law Day website contains planning guides and resources.

If you are interested in volunteering for Law Day, please send an email to Marot Hoskins, Chair, AABA Law Day Committee, at sahosk00@aacounty.org.  The Law Day Committee thanks you!
